Obsessions

A Chronicle of my favorite things:

1.  Karaoke

If I have a free Friday night, this is where you will find me.  Yes, I’ve been told that it isn’t for everyone.  However, I also know that the people who say that have never done it before!  I am telling you, if you have never done karaoke, step up!  It could change your life, and I’m totally serious when I say that.

2.  Carrie Underwood

Okay, make fun of me all you want, but when I saw this adorable girl on American Idol in 2005, I was hooked.  Now she’s a famous A-lister and I still like her.  I have seen her in concert three times, and I will likely continue to do so.  I don’t think I’ll ever get over the fact that she was just chilling out on her dad’s farm with that voice.  (I say that a lot).  Secretly I have ALWAYS wanted to be famous (okay I’m probably not the only one who’s thought like that, but) I really don’t think I could make it look half as cool as she does.  And she can SING!  Yep, she’s my favorite.

3.  the people that go to my church

I go to this great little church in North Dakota, and I just have to say, I love the people there!  You know who you are.  Yep, you.  Maybe it’s because I’ve grown up a little, maybe it’s for a lot of reasons I haven’t discovered yet, but the group is amazing.  I don’t think we realize the great community that we have in each other, and maybe that’s what makes it work, and maybe that’s what makes it strong.  I think about them, and how lucky I am, every single day.  Thanks guys.

4.  The Texas Roadhouse

…is my favorite restaurant.  Okay, it’s my second favorite.  My actual favorite is Noodles & Company, but they don’t have one where I live.  The Texas Roadhouse is famous for its food and legendary service, and I should know, I worked there at one time.  If you haven’t been there yet, GO.

5.  How to Cook Everything Vegetarian

I got this book for my birthday, and I am beyond excited about it.  And yes, I know, I just wrote about the Texas Roadhouse above, which is a steak house.  Someday I would like to be a vegetarian.  It just seems like the right thing to do for me for some reason.  I am easing my way into it.

5.5.  Scrubs, the TV show.

6.  daydreaming

7.  Telling random stories from years ago (usually the same ones over and over again)

7.5.  80’s power ballads (and some from the 70’s)

8.  Road trips

One day I want to take a road trip to celebrate my favorite things…like chasing Carrie Underwood across the country (and in a good way, like seeing her concerts, not a psycho way, c’mon now), visiting 19 different Texas Roadhouses, checking out lots of boys and bringing along the people from my church that I immensely enjoy.  One day.

9.  Dave Ramsey

…is the authority on all things financial.  Okay, well, mostly.  But if you are in debt or in financial trouble, he’s your go-to guy.  He has a pretty doable plan set up, and if anyone, really anyone, follows it to the letter and you’re crazy disciplined enough, you’ll be rich at the end everytime.  Cool, eh?

10. Music created or celebrated on acoustic guitar
